Today is the seventh Sunday of Easter. In Western Christianity, Eastertide is the period of 50 days, spanning from Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday.
Easter Sunday is the day of the resurrection, a joyous celebration of God’s victory over sin and death. Easter is the most important day of the church year. It is the day, after three days, that Jesus rose from the dead. The Bible states that Jesus “was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Romans 4:25). Easter Sunday is our day of victory. Jesus said, “Because I live, you also will live” (John 14:19). We are forgiven, and that means we have the certainty of eternal life through Jesus.
“Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
