Advent is a time of preparation and anticipation for the coming of Christ both in the past as the baby Jesus, but also in the future with His promised second coming as Christ Triumphant. Share the warmth by donating new or gently used sweatshirts supporting One Hopeful Place to be provided to the homeless population of Fort Walton Beach. The collection will run from 1-22 December. Sweatshirts can be placed in the wooden donation box in the lobby of the CLC. Contact Paul E. if you have any questions. Help us keep those in need warm this year.

We are again collecting Lutheran World Relief (LWR) personal care Kits. For several years the Women's Organization has asked the congregation to support them in donating items for the LWR kits, and the response has been amazing. The quilters group meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 9am in the Upper Building. Mary/Martha meets for fun and fellowship as we create beautiful quilts that are donated to benefit Lutheran World Relief and other charitable organizations. No prior quilting experience is needed! Mary Martha also made numerous face masks for the congregation to use during our worship services.

Today we celebrate Christmas Eve, which has been celebrated for as long as celebrations for Christmas have happened, starting about 1,700 years ago when the first Christian Roman Emperor, Constantine, declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on 25 December. For centuries after his proclamation, Christmas was celebrated as a whole season that begun with the arrival of Christmas Eve on December 24th.

Today we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior, the Light of the World. Romans 3:23-24 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Showing His great love for us, God sent his only begotten Son into the world as a Christmas present to everyone. What a joyous day of celebration.

Eve Circle meets tonight and the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30pm. Everyone is welcome! Eve Circle is intended for all ages and specifically designed for the working woman. We are a gathering of women of faith who gain spiritual and emotional strength through fellowship, Bible study, and community service. Our monthly food drive for Sharing & Caring, our community food bank, is held the first Sunday of every month. Bring canned and non-perishable food products to the lobby of Christian Life Center and place them on the collection cart. There is also a need for baby formula, toothpaste, shampoo, bar soap, and laundry detergent.

Today marks the beginning of the season of Epiphany. On 6 January, we celebrate the Epiphany of Our Lord, the revelation of Christ to all nations as represented by the magi who came to worship Jesus. The church calendar recognizes the season of Epiphany from January 6 until the last Sunday before Ash Wednesday, which is celebrated as the Transfiguration of our Lord. All ladies are invited to join us as we study God’s Word and grow closer together in Christian fellowship.
